Letter from Dave Jamael, Hockey Operation Coordinator
Hello Sydney Minor Hockey Families,
After 13 years as President of Sydney Minor Hockey and 14 on the board, I’ve decided to step down from that role. It’s time for someone else to take a turn. I will stay on in a new supporting position as Hockey Operations Coordinator for the next year.
It’s been great working alongside so many great volunteers, coaches, and families. Together, we’ve accomplished a lot improving development programs, to securing grants and partnerships that helped make hockey more accessible for our kids. We’ve added great programs over the years, like conditioning camps, development skates, First Shift and the 50-50 tickets which have all given more players the chance to learn and enjoy the game.
As I move into this new role, my focus will be on the supporting our programs, board members and helping with player development, and making sure our kids have the best hockey experience possible.
I also want to take a moment to welcome and congratulate our new President, Brian Howley. I will be giving my full support to Brian and the SMHA board while they transition.
Thank you all for your support during my time as President. I’m excited for this next chapter and grateful to continue being part of the Sydney Minor Hockey family in a different way.
